Our next prayer written by an Orthodox woman comes from Angelike Giallourakis:
“In 2009 our youngest son Steven was being prepped for his Bone Marrow Transplant in order to save him from Secondary Acute Myologenis Leukemia. Simultaneously our son Nick was having some outpatient surgery on his arm in the same hospital. My stress level was over the top. To ease my emotions I sat and wrote the attached prayer.
Nick made it out of surgery fine. Steve’s BMT was a success. I thought I would share it for anyone who might need to know they aren’t alone.”
Lord, compassionate Lover of Mankind, who has sent our Lord Jesus Christ to save us,
Have mercy on us as we begin our day.
Have mercy on us as we attempt to live our day.
Have mercy on us as we spend our day in the hospital.
Have mercy on us as we witness others’ suffering.
Have mercy on us as mothers and fathers praying for the health of our children.
Have mercy on us as our children struggle to survive the medications and treatments the doctors have to prescribe.
Have mercy on us as our children are being anesthetized for surgery.
Have mercy on us as the surgeon cuts into our child’s skin.
Have mercy on us as the surgeon sews and mends the incisions to our child.
Have mercy on us as our child awakens from the fog of anesthesia.
Have mercy on us as we look into the eyes of our child.
Have mercy on us as our child lays still with tubes entering and exiting his body.
Have mercy on us as they sip water.
Have mercy on us as they moan in pain.
Have mercy on us Lord, as their body gradually heals.
Have mercy on us Lord, that our child may be healed and praise Your Holy Name. Amen.
Through the grace of Our Lord.
Holy Panaghia, Mother of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
Have mercy on our child.
As a Mother you understand the anguish we feel as our child’s health is compromised with an evil disease.
As a Mother you understand our pleas for mercy and that our child will be WHOLE AGAIN so that they may praise the Lord’s Holy Name.
As a Mother, we pray that you will hear our humble prayer for mercy and forgiveness. Amen.
Have Mercy On The Child With Cancer
In the Name of the Father and Son and Holy Spirit, Amen.
O Holy Father, Physician of our Souls and Bodies Who has sent Your Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to save us, have mercy on us!
Have mercy on us as we hear the news that cancer has entered our child’s body.
Have mercy on us as we attempt to squelch the anguish we feel.
Have mercy on us as we learn about our child’s cancer and the treatment process.
Have mercy on us as we watch our child being poked and prodded.
Have mercy on us as we witness the drugs streaming through their body.
Have mercy on us as we pray that the harsh chemicals help our child.
Have mercy on us as we examine CT scans, MRI’s, and other tests throughout our child’s treatment process.
Have mercy on us as we fall to our knees beseeching You, Lord, for forgiveness of our sins.
Have mercy on us as we beg for our child’s life.
Have mercy on us as we beseech You, Lord, to heal our child.
Have mercy on us, Lord, that our child will be whole again.
Have mercy on all of us, Lord, as we patiently sit and wait.
Have mercy on us, Lord, as we pray for Your mercies.
Only You can save our child, Lord, have mercy on us!
Amen.
